Jeelani “Lan” Perez -- an advocate of breastfeeding and intentional parenting-- has 2 kids. She is the founder of Mother Nurture, a company producing 7 in 1 Choco and Coffee mixes. Moms from varying walks of life and parts of the country have attested to the ability of the drinks to aid in breastfeeding. Lan shares her life as a mompreneur, wife and mom.

What inspired you to start your own business?
There was need, I was deprived from taking coffee since I started breastfeeding. And so I looked if there was available in the market, unfortunately none.

What’s the best part of being a mompreneur?

Being at home with my kids (witnessing every milestone), making a living and sharing my advocacy all at the same time.

What is the biggest challenge you faced as a mompreneur?

Time management. There are times that I feel exhausted but I still need to play my roles efficiently --wife, mother and entrepreneur.

How do you balance work and family time?
I stick to my schedule. I dedicate 4 hours a day for work (9-11am and 5-7pm only) , then the rest is for my family. I don’t work during weekends and holidays.

How do you see yourself in the future?

In 2-3 years, I want to have my own house in a secure and nice subdivision, plus a small office/commercial space within our home. I want to make it BIG without neglecting my priorities. I also want to offer employment or program to other moms.

Any tips for moms thinking of starting a business?
Pray. Plan. Plant.

PRAY to God that HE may bless you with Heavenly wisdom and guide you as you start a new journey. Starts with the question “what business should I start?”

Have a detailed PLAN on how you go about the business. Dream BIG and believe in your potential. Ask yourself “how should I do my business?”

Give back by PLANTING and sharing God's blessings. Help the Church, the poor, the sick and the uneducated.

What's your advice to moms?
As a mom, there will be a lot of decisions to make. Before deciding, please consider this: "the best way to nourish GOD’s greatest blessing is through what HE designs."

What are your top 3 recommended must haves for moms? Why?
Book. Baby Carrier. Bottled Water for our children.

Book - Develop your child to read at an early age. By reading a simple book, there will be learning. Education will be their main tool to success.

Baby Carrier - So you will be on the go anytime, anywhere. Being able to move freely, keeping your baby safe while performing any tasks is an advantage.

Bottled Water - Everywhere we go, we see to it that we bring water for our children, this is to ensure their health and by doing so, our family can save P6000.00 a year for not just buying bottled water from a resto or malls.
